I hope you’ve all enjoyed a relaxing and restful Festive Season. It seems even to me that only yesterday we were in the middle of winter!
How quickly time flies along, you blink at a few months roll by. How long since your last visit? You might be surprised!
Now, I have some ‘unpleasant news’- after maintaining my prices for over 18 months, the time has come to raise them.
All sessions will now be $85, BUT there’s a way around it! Keep reading…
Why not make 2012 ‘The Year of PROACTIVELY Taking Care of YOU”? Clients make faster progress when they ‘don’t wait until they fall in a heap’ to visit.
To encourage rebooking, I’m offering a $10 discount to all who make their next appt when in clinic. And remember, I do have packages available too, just ask for details.
Do you like my photo? It’s a gorgeous butterfly that spent the whole day escaping the heatwave on our front porch. We even put down a plate of water and watched it drink!
It doesn’t take much sometimes to make a difference.
Remember you can always come onboard my Facebook page www.facebook.com/overcoming.overwhelm Check it out for tips, quotes, laughs and all-round helpful advice on Overcoming Overwhelm!
What I’ve Been Up To.
Well, apart from helping lots of people de-stress, I’ve had quite a literary time recently. I was asked to proof-read a book, and then contribute to another! One has been released already.
‘A Modern Woman’s Guide to A Natural Empowering Birth’ is a great book for anyone who’s expecting a baby.
Beautifully presented, easy to read and full of ‘real-life’ stories, hints and tips, I have copies of this book available for $34.95.
Hopefully the other book won’t be too far away either. It’s so lovely to help others make their dreams come true.
Summer is here, School will be Back Soon too!
As parents we want the best for our kids, whatever that is. Why not get this year off to a great start by ‘Tuning up’ your kids, hormones, changes of routine or class, can all affect learning. A Kinesiology consult can ‘nip these issues in the bud’. Kids just lap up Kinesiology, it fascinates and empowers them, they can really feel it and I love having kids on my treatment bed.
Technology is Taking Over.
Now this might interest my ‘far away’ clients, whether that’s an hour’s drive away, or the other side of the world away-
I am now offering Energy Healing sessions via email or phone. Using the principles of Reiki and Kinesiology, you can have the benefits without needing to visit me in person.
Being both ‘Energy Modalities’, my healing sessions can be ‘sent’ much like an email, why not try it out?
Ring 0437 601 550 or email me at rj@stitt.com.au to find out more about distant sessions.

Overcoming Overwhelm Newsletter – April 2011
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
Long time, no speak, I hope you have been keeping on top of things as another year rushes past us. It’s been a busy start don’t you think?
This month’s photo is one of ‘the closest the moon ever comes to Earth’ and while it wasn’t as spectacular as we had hoped, it was still a pretty special moment.
We, as a planet, have experienced Floods, Bushfires, Earthquakes and Tsunamis. And we’re now enjoying some unseasonably warm weather here in Strath- my poor garden is very confused, the flowers are blooming, I think they think its Spring.
We too can feel confused when things don’t go to plan, but instead of getting angry or upset, look at what might be contributing to the situation, see what is within your control and decide if you want, or need, to do anything about it.
I’ve been busy maintaining my Facebook page www.facebook.com/overcoming.overwhelm Check it out for tips, quotes and all-round helpful advice on Overcoming Overwhelm!
I’ve also recorded my first 2 guided meditations- you can check these out at
The OVERCOMING OVERWHELM Blog: meditation They’re both appropriate for beginners. If you do have a listen, I’d love some feedback.
Winter is on its Way!
Yes, its true. Winter will be here before we know it. Soccer has started, daylight savings has ended. Soon we’ll be rugged up against the cold, wet and wind. Flus, sniffles and sore throats.
Keep up the fresh fruit and vegies, adequate water and exercise, but if you do succumb, be kind to your body- let it rest. Don’t ‘soldier on’- that would have to be my most un-favourite ad of all time- boost your Zinc and Vitamin C and have a session with a good health practitioner. A Kinesiology session at the first hint of a bug can stop it in its tracks, or reduce the duration by many days. My kids and I swear by it.
One way to get your body in the best possible position to fight these winter bugs is a Pre-Winter Ear Candling session. Relaxing and gentle, an ear candling session will improve your immune system’s chances of beating those bugs it encounters later in the season. I’m currently offering a bonus gift to all newsletter readers who book an Ear Candling session in May. Call me now for an appointment 0437 601 550.
Another great tip for keeping warm during winter is to sprinkle tumeric, paprika, pepper or even chilli if you’re brave on your socks before you put your shoes on. Depending on how warm you wish to be, you might like to experiment with your spices. It really does work. Great for early morning sport!
Something new.

Xmas wishes- thankyous and presents.
December 2010
Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
Happy holidays and Merry Xmas to you,
I must firstly apologise for having such a large time period between postings. It’s true what they say- time does fly when you’re having fun. Then I would love to say a BIG THANKYOU to all of you for being such wonderful clients, followers, supporters and journey-ers. I have gained as much from working with you as you have from me- it’s a journey we take together and I’m very proud of you all.
I’ve been flat out studying- learning a heap of great new stuff to help you all (that’s the fun I’ve been having). You’ll be pleased to know I’ve received wonderful feedback from my Tutor and also my Case Study clients. Not only have I completed 2 Kinesiology modules, but also Nutrition, so any lifestyle or food questions, please feel free to ask. Digestion and detoxing is now a forte of mine.
Another thing I have done has been interviewed by Rebel Black from ‘I’m not Fussy’ a website dedicated to ‘Choosing health and wellness and living a fulfilled and satisfied life’ A philosophy I follow too.
You can find the interview here I'm Not Fussy- Robyn Stitt
So, what are you up to this Festive Season? What would you like your 2011 to be like?
Reflect on your last 12 months- are you satisfied with your journey? If you have a plan but need help reaching it, a series of appointments can have you scooting along in no time. Likewise, if you’re not sure on where you want to go, we can help with that too.
Who could you be this time next year??
Who could you be this time next year??
I’m taking a leave from consulting for a few weeks over Xmas and New Year to spend time with my loved ones, but will be back on Jan 10th.
And I’ll be having a ‘Get Ready for School’ week last week for the holidays, so get in and give your kids the best stat they can for the new year of learning.
Call me now for appointments in January 0437 601 550.
New to Buy- A Healthier Sanitary Option.
I’m not into ‘selling products’, but when I heard about this new, different sanitary pad I just had to find out more about them.
As someone who is concerned about, and therefore try to minimize, the number of chemicals I expose not only myself to but also my family, I stumbled across ‘LOVE-MOON Pads’.
They contain an anion layer but no bleach or synthetic materials. The result is quite amazing. No leakage, no odour, no icky sweaty feeling. You can read more about them here... Love Moon Pads
I have them available right now- in panty liners (30 in pack), day pads (10 in pack) and night/ maternity (8 in pack) $10 per pack, but you’ll use less than traditional products so the price per period is about the same. Plus, there are so many other uses for them. Call me if you’d like me to send you a sample or to demonstrate how good they are.
My Gift for YOU.
As a special end-o-year thank youI have also found a free e-Book called ‘How Do I Love Me’ that you can download! Here’s the link 'How Do I Love Me - The Book'
From me to you with love.

How Much Do You VALUE Yourself?
Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
Hi to all,
I certainly hope you are all staying warm (if in the Southern Hemisphere). We’ve had some very cold weather here in Strathalbyn recently, but rest assured my clinic rooms are beautiful and warm, just what you want when de-stressing or relaxing. It is also the time for snuggle-up comfort foods and I enjoy these too, but remember to watch your portion sizes and sugar intake, or you might just end up more tired than before. I have been busy not just in clinic and with the family, but also studying again, something which I love.
What do you love to do?
On another note, you’ll be pleased to know that I’ve negotiated with the owner of BodySense (Sharon) to not have the nail tech and I there on the same day- so those of you that are sensitive to the smell of nail polish can rest assured you don’t have to smell it any more when coming for your Tuesday appointment. Thanks Sharon, it only took a quiet discussion to find a win-win resolution to the problem.
How could your life be made a bit easier by negotiation? Call me if you need some assistance 0437 601 550.
Self Esteem- How Much do you Value Yourself?
I heard a fabulous little acronym the other day-
FLY. Fall in Love with Yourself.
I think it’s so simple, yet so powerful.
Think about it- I want to fly- seems impossible, yet it can be done- you need some pilot training and lots of practice. And you can fall in love with yourself too, with training and practice. How would it feel to be in love with yourself? Content, satisfied, whole, confident. You’d certainly not feel guilty looking after this gorgeous body, would you- feed it great quality foods, allow it to get as much sleep as it needed, surround it with beautiful things.
Sounds pretty good doesn’t it?
You can do this and it starts with VALUING yourself as much, if not more, than those around you. Making your needs as important as everyone else’s. Where do you place yourself in the priority list?
I help many clients raise their ‘self-value’ and the results are so rewarding, to see the improvements in their relationships and general health makes my heart sing.
You can start today with the following phrase, “I love myself, I am worth loving” Yes, you’ll probably feel silly saying it to begin with, but just like flying, with practice, you’ll eventually begin to believe it and then the world is your oyster!
More specifics in regards to this issue can be addressed using Kinesiology, Reiki or a combination of both. How much do you value yourself?
A Different Way of Looking at Things.
I must admit this is a first for me- putting a link to another Blog in mine, but this is brilliant and many of my clients are going through this at the moment- to them, I hope this will explain a little more what and why you are feeling the way you are.
Spiritual Awakening Twelve Signs
So instead of fighting what's going on, embrace it and allow the journey to unfold. Reiki can help ease these feelings and allow your body to transition more calmly- phone today.

Top 10 Things people Want to Change about Themselves
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
I often think of this image when a client comes in saying they ‘Just don’t feel quite right’. Still functioning, but don’t push too hard or I might just fall into a big heap of rubble.
How far could you be pushed right now without falling over?
It is important here to remember that each of us is different and what one may survive, another might find challenging. Ah, the complexities of the human being.
I can help you build your coping strategies, read your situation and become more adaptable in your life.
Call today on 0437 601 550 if you feel like you’re only just holding on.
The Top 10 Things People Often Want to Change About Themselves
Recently on my FaceBook Page Overcoming Overwhelm on Facebook, I invited my fans to think about what the Top 10 things would be that people want to change about themselves.
The results were interesting and a little off the mark. So now I’ll set the record straight and put a few people out of their ‘thinking misery’.
1- Be free (or at least have a reduction) of aches and pains. Remember pain in the body is a message trying to be heard and often all drugs do is make the message have to get louder. (revisit last month’s post if you need a reminder on messages)
2- Feel better about themselves. Self-esteem is a huge issue for so many people. It may be in just one part of your life, but it may be wider reaching than that too. Think how you would be if you had the confidence to do whatever you wanted.
3-Their bodies- lose weight, gain shape, be taller, more attractive. To be happy in your own skin is a wonderful feeling.
4-Focus- being able to give your full attention to something and see it through to completion. By not allowing distractions to sway you from your task, you will achieve more.
5-Releasing fears- fear of failure, fear of success, fear of spiders, heights, crowds. Fears stop you doing things. What could you achieve if there was no fear?
6- To have more energy- I’d really like to do that but I can’t be bothered, I’m so tired. If energy was no boundary, what would you do today?
7- Be sure of themselves- to doubt is to hesitate, playing the ‘what-if’ game. Imagine knowing what you want and going for it.
8- Have clear boundaries (and sticking to them) - if you mean NO, say NO. Don’t allow yourself to be persuaded or bullied into doing something you really don’t want to do.
9- To not feel guilty about everything- you can’t please everyone in the world, so please the most important one- YOU!
10- Generally function better- to have your body operating at its peak- getting the most out of what you eat, having good quality sleep, enjoying life.
And you know what?
Most of these issues can be addressed using Kinesiology, Reiki or a combination of both.
What would you like to change about yourself?
Anyone been watching the Soccer World Cup?….
A lot has been said about the quality of the refereeing (especially for the Australian games) at this year’s World Cup. But let’s just think about it for a while.
It depends on who the rostered referee is for any particular game. It depends on which team you are supporting. It could even depend on the day!
To be truly fair, all the games should be ‘reffed’ by the same referee for consistency’s sake. But that is a logistical nightmare and the competition would take months, not weeks.
And just like the soccer, life isn’t always the ‘best case scenario’ is it? We have to play our cards (the situations and circumstances we find ourselves in) to the best of our ability. Sure better cards would be nice, but there might not be any to be had right now.
Does whinging about it change what’s happened, change your cards, change the referee’s decision? No, but changing the way you observe the situation sure can alter how you feel about the whole thing. Pull your socks up and keep going. Make the best of whatever situation you are in, do your best and then next round, you might just get that unbeatable deal you’ve been after for a while.
If you find yourself ‘seeing the world through grey tinted glasses’, maybe a visit to the ‘outlook optometrist’ might just alter you view of things. I’m not expecting anyone to go all ‘rosy’ on me, but to be objective and see the world as it truly is (reality).
This month’s quote…
"Attitudes are contagious. Is yours worth catching?” Thanks to Liz for that one.
If you have a topic or question you would like answered, please drop me an email and I will endeavour to answer it in upcoming newsletters.
See you again,
Robyn

Have you got a Frying Pan belting you over the Head?
Overcoming Overwhelm Newsletter – June 2010
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
Welcome again to another edition of my newsletter. This month’s photo is of a lovely friend’s sailing boat we were lucky enough to go out on recently. The weather wasn’t as nice as this photo, but just like life, everyday isn’t smooth sailing, is it? The easy days are just that- easy, but it’s how you conduct yourself and survive the rough ones that show you your true character and strength. To be adaptable and respond to whatever life throws at you is a wonderful attribute, as is knowing when to return to shore. We certainly took our hats off to Jessica Watson after our hour on the high seas.
How would you cope in a storm?
I can help you build your coping strategies, read your situation and become more adaptable in your life. Call today on 0437 601 550 if you feel like you’re riding a storm without your rudder.
Body, Mind, Psychic Expo
>Next weekend (June 5 and 6) is the annual Body, Mind and Psychic Expo held at Wayville Showgrounds in Adelaide. It’s open from 10-6 each day.
I will be there as part of the Australian Kinesiology Association (SA Branch) stall as I do each year. Sunday’s the day if you want to see me in the flesh. I’d love to see you!
We (as an association) love spreading the word about Kinesiology and how it can assist in so many ways. We are offering 15 minute introductory sessions for the bargain price of only $20- what a great way to experience this wonderful stuff.
The Frying Pan Over the Head….
Anyone watching the news at the moment could be excused for thinking something serious is happening- volcanoes erupting, oil spewing from the ocean floor, locust plagues and floods. Our environment is trying to tell us something important, and it seems we aren’t listening.
The same can occur in our own bodies- have you ever experienced what I term ‘the frying pan over your head’ trying to make you listen?
I know I have. It took my consciousness many times to finally ‘hear’ what my body had been trying to tell me for a long time. It had started as a whisper, increased to a gentle nudge, a shove and finally resorted to ‘the frying pan over my head’ until I stopped and took notice. If only I’d listened to the whisper, what hardships I would have saved myself from suffering through.
So what gets in the way of these messages?
All sorts of things can ‘talk over the top’ of what we really should be listening to- a too busy lifestyle with not enough quiet reflection time; masking these messages (which can often present as niggly aches or pains) with over the counter drugs like paracetemol; even the plain old ‘if I ignore it then it will go away’ strategy. If you are currently doing any of these things, then the messages not being heard will have to get louder so that you will eventually take notice.
Take it from me (and I speak with the vision of hind-sight here) it is much easier to listen to a whisper than having to wait until the message is being yelled at volume 10 in your ear 24 hours a day.
This month’s quote…
"Use things but love others.” Short and sweet, one of my favourites.
If you have a topic or question you would like answered, please drop me an email and I will endeavour to answer it in upcoming newsletters.
See you again,
Robyn

Traditional Chinese Medicine and how it can help you in YOUR LIFE.
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
Hi, and yes there was no newsletter for February. A family situation took up my extra time and I thank all of you who shared your love and thoughts with me during this time. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.
But I’m back on track and here is my next instalment on Overcoming Overwhelm. After receiving positive feedback on my introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, I thought I’d challenge you a little more, looking now at the 5 elements that make up all that surrounds us. Knowledge is power and by understanding and acknowledging your own body, you can face the challenges life throws at you from time to time much easier. If you would like further explanation, or a consultation to help with understanding your body, don’t hesitate to phone me. Life really doesn’t have to be hard work all the time.
The 5 Elements (and how it all fits together).
I suggest you re-read this a few times to help it sink in…..
Traditional Chinese Medicine theory divides our world into 5 different, yet connected elements….. FIRE, EARTH, METAL, WATER and WOOD.>
Within these elements are the Yin and Yang as discussed last time, but also emotions, organs, the environment and everything!
These 5 elements are connected in 2 equally important cycles- constructive and destructive. And we need both to maintain a healthy balance.
FIRE feeds EARTH (ash becomes soil), EARTH feeds METAL (soil over time becomes metal or rock), METAL feeds WATER (water filters through rock and metal to improve its quality), WATER feeds WOOD (obvious) and WOOD feeds FIRE (again, obvious).
FIRE controls METAL (by melting it), METAL controls WOOD (an axe will cut it), WOOD controls EARTH (plants break through the soil), EARTH controls WATER (think of a dam), WATER controls FIRE (obvious).
But what’s it all mean and how can it apply to your life? Good question.
Well, we all know that plants die if not watered properly or are planted in poor quality soil- apply the same principles to you. With help, you can recognize where you are in this cycle and therefore learn to nurture yourself to keep moving around the cycle. Being true to yourself helps others nurture you too. Take for example, if you are in the Metal place (and therefore need Earth to nurture), but outwardly act in Fire (seem to need Wood to be nurtured) when those around you give you Wood, they are keeping you ‘stuck’ in Metal instead of helping you move along to Water etc.
This, I hope, will assist you in recognising that HONESTY is your best friend in giving those around you a clear indication of your true self.
This month’s quote…
Know where you're going in life...you may already be there!!

Appreciating Differences
Overcoming Overwhelm Newsletter – January 2010
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
Welcome to my first newsletter for 2010!
I hope this finds you well rested and ready to head into the new year. We enjoyed a quiet Xmas, just what the doctor ordered to recharge our collective batteries. Many people at this time of year review the year that was and set their goals for the coming one. What are your goals? Where would you like to be at the end of 2010? Imagine how satisfying it will be to look back and see the wonder of the journey. What are your chances of achieving these goals? Do you need some assistance in keeping you on track, from giving up when the going gets tough? That’s where I can help in dissolving self-limiting beliefs so that you truly can achieve anything you want.>
I thought we’d start the year on a theoretical note with an explanation of the differences between the sexes, different organs in our bodies, Yin/Yang and Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory stuff. I hope you find it interesting, let me know if it’s all too confusing.
Appreciating the differences in the world.
I must thank a wonderful friend of mine, Trevor for this explanation.
We were discussing Traditional Chinese Medicine theory one day and his view was so simple I feel I must share it with you…..
We have all heard of Yin and Yang, but what’s it all about? Balance in a nut-shell.
Shades of grey, opposites that work as a team. And more importantly how to care for each facet.
Take for example the traditional male and female roles and combine these with our internal organs.
Yin is female and the Yin organs are the heart, spleen, kidneys, liver and lungs. Yang is male and the Yang organs are the small and large intestines, bladder, gall bladder and stomach.
All well and good, but what is the significance? I hear you ask.
Well, think of the way men operate and how this ties in with these organs.
The Yang organs work when we need them to, not all the time, but intensely when required, they jump to attention- to digest our food or store and release the urine produced. They work in bursts but then need a rest to recover. Men love to work hard and all they ask for is half an hour of recovery time. Imagine how your stomach would feel if you just kept eating and eating without any rests?
Now think about the Yin organs and the traditional female role.
Our hearts, kidneys, liver, spleen and lungs work continuously without complaint, hour after hour, day after day, slowly plodding along keeping us alive. The traditional female, mother role is also quite continual, often thankless, into the night to keep the house operating. A gentle word of appreciation and we’ll happily keep going.
It may sound sexist, but this really is how we are- with shades of grey of course- all men have some female aspects to their make-up and all females have some male traits, but on the whole, this theory holds. In today’s society the two roles are adapting, but the inherent makeup of both men and women still remains the same. By understanding the differences between each other and knowing how we can show our thanks, better relationships all round will result.
Different way of looking at it, isn’t it?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is the basis of Kinesiology and acknowledges the relationships that exist between every part of our bodies, every part of nature and the balance, or imbalance that exists. It is complex but simple, fascinating and can shed light on why we do certain things in certain situations. I truly love it.
This month’s quote…
The ship may be safer in the harbour, but it wasn’t designed for that. Where is your ship?

Small Stresses become Overwhelming- Overcoming Overwhelm Newsletter – December 2009
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
Hi again!
Can you believe it’s December already? Functions, parties call us and add to our busy lifestyles. If you would like to refresh your memory on my tips for surviving Xmas, check out last December’s newsletter - tips for surviving Xmas
We have been extremely fortunate to have witnessed the transformation of our tadpoles into tiny frogs- I see the new year as a similar situation where many of us endeavour to undertake changes in our lives. While change can be scary, it can also be wonderful. If the fear is preventing you from taking the plunge from ‘tadpole-hood’ to’ frog-dom’ let me help you reveal your true identity. I am consulting through January, so call to make your appointment.
How small stresses can lead to overwhelm.
If I raised a glass of water and asked 'How heavy is this glass of water?' What would you say?Answers may range from 20g to 500g- it depends on the size of the glass. But, the absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it..
If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.
And that's the way it is with stress in our lives. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, As the burden becomes increasingly heavy, We won't be able to carry on.
As with the glass of water, You have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.
Whatever burdens you're carrying now, Let them down for a moment if you can. Put down anything that may be a burden to you right now.
Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a while, and only if you really need to pick it up again.
Maybe its time to leave it where you put it.
I can help you ‘put things down’ that may seem stuck to your hand.
This month’s quote…
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
See you again in 2010,
Robyn

Tips for Exams - Overcoming Overwhelm Newsletter – November 2009
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
Hi again!
This month I’m putting my newsletter out a bit early so that I can offer some tips for those of you who are doing, or are living with someone who is doing, exams at this time of year. Exams are very stressful and even the most ‘cool, calm and collected’ of us can experience episodes of ‘tired and emotional’, panic, doubt or general melt-down.
Those studying can be tempted to burn the midnight oil only to find themselves too tired the next day to function efficiently and maybe even pick up germs that otherwise would bounce off us.
Read my tips below and if you are still feeling overwhelmed or just want some chill-out time call for an appointment to get you back on top again.
5 Tips for Surviving Exams.
1. Keep as ‘normal as possible’ routine - Don’t forgo everything for study- it won’t sink in. If you play sport or have a part-time job, keep doing it.
2. Sleep- sounds simple, but going to bed at a reasonable hour and getting enough sleep will enable you to have much more effective studying the next day. Especially the night before an exam, get a good night’s sleep so you can conquer the nerves early on and do your best in the exam
3. Eat well- another simple approach to effective survival of a very stressful time of your life. Breakfast, lunch and dinner- protein, carbs, fruit and veg- the occasional treat. Eat with your family, they will help you to maintain your sense of belonging and support.
4. Limit or eliminate ‘Stimulants’- coffee, sports drinks, sugary soft drinks, chocolate let alone heavier stimulants all overload your body giving a short-lived high only to leave you lower than you started, so opt for nuts or a walk to help keep you focussed.
5. Get some exercise- whether it’s going for a walk or a swim, playing sport, doing yoga, whatever- don’t spend all of your swat-vac and times between exam sitting at a desk stiffening up. You’ll end up lethargic and hunched. If you really can’t afford time out to go for a 30 minute break, at least stand up and stretch your body every couple of hours, you’ll feel better for it.
The differences between the different modalities I use.
A common question I am asked in clinic and when talking to a person about Overwhelm and Wellness is “What is it that you do?”
The simple answer is, “I use results-based therapies drawn from ancient and modern holistic modalities from around the world.” Read on to find out more….
At today’s fast pace of life, stress (a much overused word), is something that is thrown towards us almost constantly. Your ability to deal with negative stress directly corresponds to your own wellness. Increasing stresses often have a detrimental affect on your physical and emotional self. My goal is to bring you back into balance using these different modalities so that your current stress load is decreased.
Kinesiology is a totally customised treatment modality combining gentle, western style muscle monitoring with ancient Chinese philosophy, acupressure and natural therapies enabling busy, stressed people to get their lives back on track. Non-invasive and relaxing, clients often leave feeling lighter and more able to take on the outside world.
Reiki is a relaxing, touch-based therapy which can be enjoyed even if you are too sore for a massage. It calms both the mind and body allowing deep healing. A Reiki session can include an aromatherapy foot massage utilising essential oil blends to reduce tension, detox the body or increase energy levels, it depends what you want from your session.
Ear candling is an ancient ritual seen in many different cultures, from India, China, North America even the Australian Aborigines. Gentle and relaxing, it draws debris from the ear canal, can reduce sinus and head pressure or relieve hay-fever symptoms. Once again, it depends what you want from your session.
I can give you a personalised combination of all of these modalities, or you can choose what you want. How many other practitioners allow you to choose your own treatment?
This month’s quote…
'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'
Til next time,
Robyn

Overcoming Overwhelm- what is it?
People have been asking me, ‘What exactly is Overwhelm?’
Well, think of it like this… If some aspect of your life is lacking, causing you to lose sleep, or have thoughts circling around your head all day, you’re probably experiencing some form of Overwhelm.
You might be extremely successful in many areas of your life, but question the value of it when another part isn’t up to that standard.
Some people describe being too emotional, some not enough. Some know what they want but don’t know how to get there while others admit they wouldn’t recognise when they have reached their goal. Some people are filled with regret and seem stuck in the past while others are too busy planning for the future to enjoy today.
If any of this sounds familiar, it doesn’t mean you’re a failure, just in need of some assistance in getting the most out of ALL facets so that you can live a truly fulfilled life.
More flexibility.
If finding the time to deal with your overwhelming life has been difficult, I’m pleased to announce greater flexibility in getting an appointment to see me.
I can now offer appointments Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the day and also Tuesday evenings. So don’t let a busy schedule stop you from looking after YOU, call now to find a convenient time.
What is information and what is marketing?
This month I thought we’d discuss the overwhelming amount of information we are bombarded with every day and try to decipher what it’s all about.
Think about the conflicting messages we are sent and let’s look at who is sending them. Think about how the messages change from one time to another- we all want to do what’s best for us and our family, but they keep changing the message!
I remember when my son Shaun was small, the recommendation was that from 6 months you should brush your child’s teeth with a small amount of toothpaste each day- fine, did that- What a good mother I am. BUT- a few years later when I had Natalie, they’d changed the recommendations and mothers were then told not to use toothpaste until the child was 2 years old! Had I done the wrong thing by Shaun, should I feel guilty that he’d had toothpaste? No, the information was out of date; we can simply do the best of our knowledge with the information at the time and use our own common sense.
Take for example, the dietary recommendations put forward.
We are told we should eat red meat several times per week. Who is sending this message? The Red Meat Corporation.
Who tells us to drink 3 serves of Dairy per day? The Dairy Corporation.
Then the one that really gets me at the moment is the ‘Anti-bacterial Sprays’ currently all over the media- do we really need them? No, most of the bacteria they kill are harmless anyway. It is marketing and the company want out make money out of you. They use the emotions of fear and guilt to ‘make you’ feel that you can’t live without their products.
Is this scientific data or marketing? It’s difficult to tell the difference sometimes.
What about all the other messages we are being told day after day? What can we do about it?
My advice is to get as balanced a view as possible- listen to both sides of any story and form your own opinion.

Overcoming Overwhelm Newsletter – September 2009
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
Do you like my photo?
I’ve decided to put a photo I have taken in each month’s newsletter, now that I’ve got my new camera. Photography is another of my passions. I’m not an expert, and would rather take photos of trees, old buildings and grains of sand than people, but we’re all different.
This month’s photo I took on a visit to Milang with my family.
I like how it shows the layers or levels that the water has been then smooth, even sand at the bottom. I think of this photo as symbolising what my treatments do- peel back the layers of your issue one by one until your energy is balanced or smooth.
What level are you at?
Would you like a talk on Overwhelm, Communication or General Wellness?
My diary is starting to have a few free spaces in it for talks again before Xmas.
If you, or some group you belong to, would like an evening of fun and learning, give me a call or email to discuss your needs. You’ll get to understand yourself better; look at things differently to how you might have always done; take home useful information to use and even the chance to WIN some free treatment for yourself or a family member or friend!
I can accommodate a day or evening option.
Phone 0437 601 550 for more details.

My retreat day is announced!
Overcoming Overwhelm Newsletter – August 2009
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
It’s August already and here I am again bringing you helpful hints on overcoming overwhelm.
The second workshop I did during July was on Candida.
2 ½ days of it!
Who would have thought you could talk about Candida for that long?
Candida is actually the name given to a group of moulds and yeasts and is SO much more than Thrush. The list of symptoms exceeds 100! Occurring about equally in females AND males, symptoms can include depression, sugar and carb cravings, decreased libido, persistent bladder infections, tiredness the list goes on and on.
Candida thrives when our body’s pH is out of balance which occurs when we are stressed. It’s quite a vicious cycle as having candida present in your body is a stress in itself- just ask anyone who’s had a ‘dose of Thrush’ in the past.
I am now one of only a handful of therapists in SA to be able to assist you in finally ridding your body from this nasty condition. It won’t happen overnight, but it will happen.
Make an appointment for a complimentary assessment; it should only take about 10 minutes.
All Organised Now!
The final preparations are underway and I can now formally announce my “Who’s Really Number 1?” retreat day.

Overcoming Overwhelm- my 6 Tips to turn Chaos into Order
Overwhelm Newsletter – July 2009
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Overwhelm Consultant 0437 601 550
If you thought I’d gone quiet for a while, you’re right- I’ve been to two workshops in June/ July and learnt heaps to share with everyone.
OVERWHELM!!!
This is my new Catch-Cry.
After a review of all my clients, trying to find some commonality amongst them, I’ve found it. Overwhelm.
Whether it’s kids with behaviour problems or learning difficulties, adults with Chronic Fatigue, Sleep Problems, Depression or Anxiety or business owners struggling to keep on top of everything, it all comes down to Overwhelm.
Do you know of someone who seems to be always overwhelmed? If so, send them my details and offer them a hand up.
A Slight Change of Plan!
As mentioned above, I’ve been to some workshops and one of them was around hosting events.
Instead of having my FIRST Wellness Retreat in November, it’s now a DAY ONLY event.
It’s going to be held Saturday 14th November!!
Venue- Victor Harbour, only one hour from Adelaide on the beautiful South Coast of South Australia
Time – 8am til 6pm
Cost- still to be determined, I promise I’ll let you know soon.
Included is lunch and morning and afternoon tea.
On the program already is Yoga, a Sound Healing, Labyrinth Walk and Self-Sabotage Releasing Ceremony. There will be plenty of time for self reflection, talking with others, walking on the beach etc and you can do as little or as much as you wish.
I have a list of people started, if you are among them and still interested, would like to add your name to the list or just like more information, please send me an email, or speak to me in person.
Places will be limited to a maximum of 12. Get in quick. It should be great.
Money time will be soon…..
Overcoming Overwhelm
My 6 Secrets to Turn Chaos into Order (without falling in a heap)
1. Delegate—as soon as littlies can walk they can put their own dirty clothes into the laundry basket. Men can vacuum and do dishes. Don’t be someone else’s slave.
2. Wear Hats -When you are at work, only think about work, as soon as you step out of work and put your ‘home hat ‘on, forget about work., etc. Remember to only wear ONE hat at a time.
3. Multi-task—while the computer is turning on, pop a load of washing into the machine. Don’t waste a minute of your precious time waiting!
4. Turn off the TV—we spend too much time watching stuff just because it’s on, watch only what you really want to. Better still, record it and watch later fast-forwarding the ads.
5. Do things in bulk—buy staples such as meat, rice, flour etc in bulk, then cook and freeze, it saves both time and money. But clean as you go.
6. Take some time for Yourself—every day if you can, but at least every week. A walk alone, a cuppa with a friend, a luxurious bath, something where you can nurture your soul!

Looking after Youself - Part 5
Overcoming Overwhelm Newsletter – May 2009
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Wellness Consultant 0437 601 550
Isn’t it lovely to see the first tinges of green around the place? I truly love this time of year- the Earth re-energises as it says good-bye to summer and new life returns. I too am energised and ready to get stuck into all those jobs we just don’t have the energy for during the heat.
Unfortunately, it’s that time of year also that means my prices need to increase.
Initial appointments are now $85 and follow-ups $70 for one hour, $100 for an hour and a half. BUT, I have released a couple of packages to give you even more value than before.
A ‘Start-up Package’ of your Initial appointment PLUS 2 hourly follow-ups is only $195, a saving of $30.
Then, ‘Pre-Pay Packages’ of 3 appointments will save you $30 from the ‘as-you-go price’ of hourly appointments.
Other packages are available for Ear Candling and longer appointments, so just ask.
A Date’s Been Set!
As mentioned a few months ago, I am hosting my FIRST Wellness Retreat in November- and I’ve just confirmed the date.
It’s going to be from Friday 13th (hope your not superstitious) – Sunday 15th November!!
Venue- Victor Harbour South Australia
Cost- still to be determined, but it won’t be extra-ordinary.
You will enjoy good food, good company and good energy.
On the program already is Yoga, a Sound Healing, Labyrinth Walk and Self-Sabotage Releasing Ceremony. There will be plenty of time for self reflection, talking with others, walking on the beach etc and you can do as little or as much as you wish. More will be added as the time gets closer.
I have a list of people started, so if you are interested or would like more information, please send me an email, or speak to me in person.
Places will be limited to a maximum of 10.
Get in quick. It should be great.
Looking After Yourself- Part 5
This month I am tackling the topic of SUPPORT. Support from others, our environment and, most importantly, OURSELVES.
That is, the relationship YOU have with YOU.
Think about your friends and why you consider them so. Now, think about the way you treat and talk about YOU.
Would you choose to be friends with yourself?
Would you put up with judgements or negative comments continuously being made towards you from a friend?
So why do you put up with it from yourself?
When you truly SUPPORT yourself, give encouragement despite knock backs, put good food and drinks into your body, give it enough rest and time to relax, your body will respond positively. This can mean more energy, enthusiasm and efficiency in your lifestyle. This in turn then allows other people to have a better relationship with you too, a real WIN-WIN situation.
You really can BE, DO and HAVE anything you want, you just have to believe it and follow through! (oh, and ask for help if you can’t do it alone)
What do you want to be?
More great tips next month.
If you have a topic or question you would like answered, please drop me an email and I will endeavour to answer it in upcoming newsletters.

Looking After Yourself -part 4
Overcoming Overwhelm Newsletter – April 2009
e-newsletter from Robyn Stitt, Wellness Consultant 0437 601 550
Well at last we have bid farewell to Daylight Savings for another season. Easter too has been and gone- I hope the Bunny visited you.
The extreme heat is over and the leaves on the trees are starting to change colour- this really is a pretty time of the year. I have certainly enjoyed the crisp, cooler mornings too, but did need to re-set my body clock! It might only be an hour, but to your body it is a large enough stress when added on top of everything else life throws at us, to really knock you for six!
Are you struggling to stay up past 9pm only to be wide awake at 5? If so, pop in to see me, it’s very easy to re-sync you.
One of the most frequently asked questions I get in clinic is: "why can’t I do this by myself?"
I explain it like this- Stress does not ask us where we would like it to go- similar to the yoghurt ad on TV currently when the girl on the bench asks if she can choose where the fat goes, only to be told, “No, its going straight to your thighs”.
Little stresses you hold onto (either consciously or subconsciously) get caught in the corners of your body. Some of these places you can get to and tidy up yourself, but so much of our body is beyond our conscious control. Can you alter your heart rate or temperature with your thoughts? No, and some stress is the same. No matter how hard you try, you are not authorised to access these areas! I certainly know it’s not from want of trying. This is where Kinesiology comes into its own. Through specialised techniques I can help you access these ‘authorised personnel only’ areas and assist you in releasing the stress once and for all. And know that I don’t need to know what these stressors are- the only person who needs to know what is being uncovered is you- the client. You can keep all those secrets safe as long as you acknowledge them to yourself. I am not an advocate of ‘releasing all the skeletons from your closet’.
How much better would you feel after a good clean-out? Many of my clients express how much lighter they feel after an appointment, how much easier it is to sit and stand up straight, how much more energy they have for enjoying life!
Looking After Yourself- Part 4
This month I will continue the ‘input and output’ theme of your wellbeing.
Last month’s discussion was about food, but now I could like you to think about the other substances you impose on your body.
Cleaning products, perfumes, soaps, shampoos, detergents, dyes, creams and lotions, ‘anti-bacterial’ sprays… there are even automatic insect sprays available today. Not to mention the pollution in the air we breathe and walk around in all day long and the chemicals put into our water to ‘keep it safe’- we soak in the bath in them.
The biggest organ of your body is your skin- it is your protection from the outside environment. Everything you place on your skin, either consciously or accidentally is absorbed by this biggest organ- straight into your bloodstream. Its how HRT and Nicotine patches work, only your skin is not fussy about what it absorbs- it ALL goes in!
It is said that the average female absorbs a whopping 2.5kg of chemicals each year from wearing makeup alone!!!
One way you can help your body cope with this chemical load is to regularly detox or spring-clean yourself. Your body has its own cleaning system called the Lymphatic System and when it is operating efficiently it can keep up with the normal amount of toxins you naturally produce. But if it is a little sluggish, or you push too many toxins in from smoking, excessive alcohol or fatty foods, these toxins build up as cellulite and fluid around the body.
An easy way to give your body a boost is to regularly use my Foot Detox Patches (available from me at BodySense) and/or a monthly Balance to keep your body operating at its peak.
If you are sinusy or suffer from hayfever, or just want to be on top of things before the winter bugs attack, Ear Candling is an excellent remedy.
I like to think of these steps in the same way as housework- either you give the bench a quick wipe-over each day and it stays pretty clean, or you can totally ignore it for a month and then you will have a much bigger job to do. I know which I’d prefer to do.
More great tips next month.
If you have a topic or question you would like answered, please drop me an email and I will endeavour to answer it in upcoming newsletters.
